The Flinders University International Centre and Alumni Office hosted a farewell event on 8 July 2014 to thank international students for their time at, and contributions to, Flinders during their stay in Adelaide.
Over the next few months, approximately 270 international students will depart for their home countries. This farewell celebrated their achievements and welcomed them to the Flinders Alumni family.
Upon graduation, the students will automatically join the Flinders alumni network, which offers the opportunity to develop a lifelong relationship with Flinders and a way to build a professional network that can advance their career and personal aspirations.
The students were from a diverse range of countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, the United States of America, South Korea, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Philippines, Mongolia, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia. All have played an invaluable part in making Flinders a true multicultural community which is rich in language and culture.
Among the departing students are 32 Australia Award recipients. The Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS) program is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Scholarships and Alumni Branch, Public Diplomacy and Communications Division. The goal of the program is to develop capacity and leadership skills so that AAS recipients can contribute to development in their home countries.
The International Centre and Alumni Office wish our departing international students all the very best for their future endeavours.
