Ben Quilty: After Afghanistan

Flinders University Art Museum in association with the Australian War Memorial is proud to present Ben Quilty: After Afghanistan in the Flinders University City Gallery.

Ben Quilty spent three months in Afghanistan as an official war artist for the Australian War Memorial in 2011. During this time he observed the experiences of Australian servicemen and women serving in Kabul, Kandahar and Tarin Kot as part of Operation Slipper. Inspired by this engagement, After Afghanistan comprises large-scale studio paintings and works on paper exposing the intense physicality of the soldiers and the emotional and psychological consequences of their service.

Ben Quilty: After Afghanistan is an Australian War Memorial Travelling Exhibition. The exhibition runs to 30 November.
