As the pre-event to the broader new Plaza and Student Hub Launch Event on the 18th March, the Indigenous Alumni and Community Breakfast provided an opportunity for Indigenous Alumni to connect with each other and with current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff, and the broader Indigenous community.

Guest speakers (pictured left) included Indigenous artist Judy Watson and Uncle Lewis O’Brien whose presentations provided an opportunity to celebrate the integrated Indigenous content in the Plaza redevelopment, both in artwork and gifted words.

With over 70 people attending, this event was the launch of the Indigenous Alumni Network and included a heartfelt presentation by Khatija Thomas, Flinders University Indigenous Law graduate who reminisced on her time at Flinders and the important influence staff and her peers at Flinders had on her life.

The Indigenous Alumni Network will continue to hold regular events under the guidance of its newly formed working group.  If you are an Indigenous graduate of Flinders University and would like to find out more about the upcoming events and activities of the Indigenous Alumni Network please call Yunggorendi Student Engagement 08 8201 3033, or email yunggorendi@flinders.edu.au.
