Building on the Bolaffi legacy

Allen BolaffiAllen Bolaffi was a man who defied the stereotypes of accountants as reserved and conservative – his close friend Dr Roger Sexton AM CUniv describes him as “an accountant who wouldn’t stick to accounting.”

Mr Bolaffi’s death in June 2014 following a sudden illness came as a blow to Flinders University and to South Australia, but his commitment to realising the possibilities of the future will live on through the Memorial Fund established in his name.

Dr Sexton said the Fund has been designed to reflect Mr Bolaffi’s enthusiastic involvement in the key areas of venture capital, innovation and disruptive technologies, health care and university education, within the business community of South Australia and beyond.

Raising $85,000 in just under two years, the business community, family and friends are carrying on the Bolaffi enthusiasm. With a goal to establish the fund in perpetuity and reach $250,000, the fund will then begin to support the areas of most importance to Allen – those of entrepreneurial new business creation through Flinders University’s New Venture Institute and research students working in health sciences related to men’s health or infectious viral diseases.
