Ross Kalucy Indigenous Well-Being Scholarship

Latoya RuleThanks go to Emeritus Professor Ross Kalucy AM, former Dean of the School of Medicine at Flinders University for his generous support of Indigenous students in the areas of mental health/social and emotional well-being.

The 2015 recipient, Latoya Rule, is currently in her second year of a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Planning. About studying at Flinders Latoya says “it’s important because the University has had some incredible Aboriginal graduates”.

Latoya admits she applied because she “was struggling financially”.

Receiving the scholarship has allowed Latoya to continue at university: “I have been able to buy some of my university books and save a little money to put towards a laptop.”

But she says, the real value of the scholarship lies in the fact that it increased her confidence.
