Sadly, one of our former students, Maher Jedi, recently lost his life in a car accident back home in Iraq.

Maher Jedi completed his Master of Biotechnology Studies in 2016, conducting his research in Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer with Dr Erin Symonds on the effect of radiotherapy on DNA methylation and gene expression in colorectal cancer.

He was enrolled to do a PhD with Flinders University starting 2018. He was the top student of his year and received a high distinction for his work.

He was extremely hard working and passionate about his research. We are hoping to establish a student prize in his memory.

Our thoughts are with his wife and two young children.
