Work to commence shortly on Flinders Station Plaza

As part of the early works for Flinders Village, development of an interim community plaza (‘Station Plaza’) will begin late June, the aim of which is to assist in integrating the new Flinders Railway Station with hospital and university communities.

Station Plaza will provide a safe and activated transitional space for passengers commuting via the train to various Flinders locations.  With the planned addition of some temporary food vans for activation and amenity it will also provide a new space for the whole Flinders community to relax and enjoy throughout the day.

The project is set for completion in line with the rail program, likely December 2020.  A diagram of the proposed finished plaza can be seen above.

During the short period of construction there will be some impact on local activities.

Car parking

Flinders University permit car park spaces on the western bitumen edge of car park 12 will be unavailable from when site works commence.  Alternative spaces are available in the northern gravel section of car park 12 or nearby in car park 21.  Signage will be in place to redirect vehicles.

Access changes

Please be aware of pedestrians, construction vehicles and personnel in the area while these works take place and take extra care to note temporary signage directions when driving or walking through.

This project is the first small step in a series of major developments to deliver the long-term vision for Flinders Village and will establish a pleasant, shared space for staff, students and visitors.
