Flinders University proudly co-hosted Research Australia’s University Roundtable in Adelaide this month, welcoming research leaders from 22 universities across the country for a day of insightful discussion and collaboration.
The event featured key policy updates from Research Australia’s Dr Talia Avrahamzon, including developments on the draft National Health and Medical Research Strategy, the Strategic Examination of R&D, and the call to release the full funds of the MRFF to support further medical research and translation.
Defence Australia shared perspectives on future workforce planning and opportunities for closer collaboration between defence, health, and innovation sectors. A highlight of the day was a conversation between Research Australia CEO Nadia Levin and Jobs and Skills Australia Commissioner Professor Barney Glover AO, focusing on national workforce planning initiatives.
Special thanks to the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) and Professor Billie Bonevski, who chaired the session, for their leadership and warm hospitality. Attendees also enjoyed tours of the Health and Medical Research Building, showcasing Flinders’ commitment to advancing health and medical innovation.
