Resource not rubbish

Over the next few weeks there will be some exciting changes happening to bins in and around the University’s high volume retail areas.

In line with Flinders’ sustainability initiatives to recover the maximum possible utility and value from materials consumed on campus, our bins will feature clear labelling and helpful pictures to make it easier to know which bin to use.

An expanded organics stream is being introduced to transform food scraps, compostable materials, paper towels and tea bags into useful garden mulch.

In the second half of the year consistent recycling, organics and general waste bins will be rolled out in buildings.

When in doubt of which bin to use, please use the red bin to avoid contaminating the recycling and organics streams. More information will be made available on the sustainability page as the improved collection systems are introduced.

Thank you for helping to improve resource recovery at Flinders University for a more sustainable future.
