Are you juggling motherhood and academia? To help work through this challenging dual responsibility, a new online discussion forum called Mum PhD has been created to connect and support women combining academia and motherhood – whether that is now, or in the future.
The online forum has been developed as a national network by Dr Koa Whittingham (project lead; UQ Medicine) and Associated Professor Alina Morawska (UQ Psychology) to connect and support women combining academia and motherhood. A vibrant and practically useful group, it supports women at all career stages who are juggling the demands of motherhood while growing and developing in an academic career.
The group was launched in October 2020 and already has 200 members from universities in Australia and internationally – and is now keen to reach the broader Australian academic community so it can share experiences, give and receive support, exchange knowledge, debate, vent and find solutions.
You will need to register to participate, to ensure that the discussions occur in a private space. You can register for Mum PhD at mumphd.com.
