Fearless about advancing manufacturing

Pro-Vice Chancellor – Research Impact and Australian Industrial Transformation Institute Director, Professor John Spoehr, will be joined by BAE System Maritime Australia’s Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Strategy Director Sharon Wilson, technology entrepreneur George Freney, REDARC Electronics CEO and Owner Anthony Kittel, and Defence Teaming Centre CEO Audra McCarthy for the engaging panel discussion.

Hosted by The Advertiser’s Business Editor Cameron England, the 45-minute event will also include manufacturing related discussions about opportunities presented by Industry 4.0 in South Australia, Australia’s dependence on imported goods, demand for skilled workers and the impact of last month’s announcement on the $90 billion submarine contract.

Anthony Kittel, managing director of electronic systems maker REDARC, says it’s pleasing to note new career pathways unfolding within the advanced manufacturing and hi-tech sectors.

“The technologies we’re employing – such as data science, augmented reality, artificial intelligence – means there are just so many opportunities opening up in manufacturing now.”

Streamed live every Wednesday from 10.30am, the Fearless Conversations encourage the community to join a range of discussions that are relevant to the future of South Australia. Subjects that will be dissected by experts include the space industry, entrepreneurship, education, energy, mining, and creative industries.
