Examining tech innovations in tourism

Flinders New Venture Institute will using its latest FOMENT event to highlight innovations in accessible, sustainable and cultural tourism that are changing the way we travel.

The event – When Tourism Meets Tech, from 1pm on November 23 – is being held at Uni Hub Spencer Gulf, 97 Ellen St, Port Pirie and online

The FOMENT program is designed to investigate how technology is revolutionising the tourism industry and determines the strategy and competitiveness of tourism organisations and destinations. This event will provide a gateway for tourism solution providers and industry operators, members and community to communicate ideas, share knowledge, and increase awareness of industry challenges and competitiveness in the tourism industry today.

In showcasing Flinders University’s research on sustainable and regional tourism, Flinders New Venture Institute’s Verity Kingsmill present an array of experts speaking on Accessible Tourism (Wendy Fraser – Paraplegic & Quadriplegic Association of South Australia; Peter Horsley – Remarkable; Ryan Tilley – Gecko Traxx; Clair Crowley – Push Adventures; Shane Hryhorec – Push Mobility and Accessible Beaches),  Sustainable Tourism (Dr Laura Lesar – Flinders University; Paul Rowsthorn – Airguides; Macartan Gaughan – Tashi), Cultural Tourism (Dr Heather Robinson – Flinders University; Jude Henshall – Sandpit (Peakmetrics); Alex Tolson – Lateral Vision) and  Tourism Product Development and Funding Opportunities (Alexandra Paxinos – South Australian Tourism Commission).
