Works in Laneway & Social Sciences North

Works across campus this week include resurfacing works in the Laneway and ongoing works to Social Sciences North. Access restrictions will also be in place in car parks 1 and 5.

Works in Laneway this weekend

There will be resurfacing works in and around the Laneway and Matthew Flinders Theatre this weekend, starting at 6am on Saturday 21 May until 6am on Monday 23 May.

The Laneway will remain open during these works, however the areas to be resurfaced will not be accessible and a detour will be in place through the Humanities courtyard. Please take care when moving through the area and follow any directions or signage in place.

Crane lift in car park 1

There will be a crane lift affecting the upper level of car park 1 this Saturday 21 May. An exclusion zone will be in place and the footpath from car park 1 to the Hub will be temporarily closed while the works take place, reopening once the crane leaves. Please use the nearby ramps at Biology and next to the Sports Centre during this time instead. Please slow down when driving through this space and follow any pedestrian detours and signage in place.

Learning Space Program – Social Sciences North 102, 242 and accessible ramp

Ongoing works are occurring in these areas impacting:

  • Egress from north-eastern side of the campus – Student Hub, Central Library, Humanities courtyard, Flinders Laneway and car park 5 to the south of the campus SSS, Law Commerce & Education buildings
  • Steps and ramps from Humanities Road to SSN courtyard (see specific access and detour details below)
  • Rooms 102 and 242

Some detours will be in place – please follow the directional signage at the site. For access assistance, please call Security on 8202 1880. The works are anticipated to be complete at the end of July 2022.

Access requirements from car park 5 to SSN courtyard

Additional temporary access parks will be available on the upper level of car park 5, as well as the existing access parks on the ground level. Access from the upper level to the SSN courtyard will remain open. Access from the lower level of car park 5 to SSN will be unavailable throughout the works.

People with Australian National Disability parking permits or short-term support permits can continue to use access parks in nearby car parks 4 and 6 to avoid disruption.

General detour in place from car park 5 to SSN courtyard

Pedestrian detours during the works will be through SSN foyer past Flinders University Museum of Art (FUMA) while the work zone is in place.
