First Academy students arrive at Flinders

The inaugural cohort of Flinders University Academy students have recently arrived on campus to begin their education journey with Flinders University. Travelling from a wide variety of countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Vietnam, the first group of Academy students have begun their studies, and once complete, will have a direct pathway to transition into more than 50 destination degrees at Flinders.

The arrival of these students marks the official opening of the Academy, after the new pathway offering was announced earlier this year. The Academy is now fully operational after months of work behind the scenes from a dedicated project team.

Andrew Foley, Academy Director and Principal, welcomed the students to Flinders, and thanked everyone involved in the project for their efforts.

“It is incredibly exciting to welcome our first ever Academy students to Flinders University after months of planning and development by a very dedicated project team,” said Mr Foley.

Sebastian Raneskold, Vice President and Pro Vice Chancellor (International) agreed.

“Our international students are a vital part of our community at Flinders, and it is wonderful to once again welcome their unique perspectives and experiences that are pivotal to shaping the vibrant and engaging learning experience for which Flinders is renowned.”

The inaugural cohort will be joined by more students in the new year, with the Academy already seeing strong enrolments for main intakes in 2023.
