A facelift for the Engineering building is one of many works happening across campus in the lead-up to the festive period, and a reminder that there will be power and water outages across campus in the coming weeks. 

Building panel replacement – Engineering building

Building panel replacement is occurring on the Sir Eric Neal Engineering building from December 2022 through to February 2023. As part of these works, scaffolding will be in place around the entrance on the western side of the building. There will be occasional closures to this entrance, with other entrances remaining open.

Power outage – Earth Sciences Building

To make the final connection for the new vehicle to grid electric chargers in car park 9, electrical isolation of the Earth Science building will occur this Thursday 8 December between 3.30am and 8am.

For safety reasons, the building will not be accessible during this time. For any queries about the electrical isolation, please contact PFD on 8201 2733.

Water outage – Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December

A reminder that maintenance works for water services on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December will result in a water outage for North and South Ridges. The following services will be affected:

• Tap water
• Toilet flushing
• Showers
• Any equipment requiring water
• Air conditioning
• Humidifiers

Back- up portable toilets will be available at the southern end of the Plaza and in front of the Sports Centre.

A second planned outage for the IST and Engineering buildings across the weekend of Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 January 2023 will impact the same services. Where possible, please avoid the campus at these times.

Please note, these works will not impact fire services.

Essential sewer renewal works

There will be no access into Biology Road from Wednesday 14 December to Friday 16 December as sewer works are undertaken in the area.

A small number of car parks in car park 1 will be unavailable during this time and traffic exiting the top level of car park 1 will be left turn only. The middle and lower levels of car park 1 will remain unaffected.

New PC2 greenhouse – Biology precinct

Please be aware that concrete trucks will be on site on Wednesday 7 December between 6am – 9am as works continue on the new PC2 greenhouse. Site compounds are now in place in car park 8 and near the construction site.

Pedestrian access will be maintained to the Biology precinct during this time and intermittently to the Aquaculture facility, however, where possible, please avoid the area.
