Fringe award for HOT new FUMA exhibition

Some Like It Hot, an Artback NT Touring Exhibition that is now at the Flinders University Museum of Art, is recipient of a FRINGE Weekly Award – and you can attend the official exhibition opening on Thursday.

Curated by Dr Wendy Garden, the Some Like it Hot exhibition celebrates the work of lauded Northern Territory-based artists Therese Ritchie and Franck Gohier. Both artists are well-known for their satirical work combining wit and humour with astute social observation.

In the exhibition, Dr Garden reflects on their practice through the lens of gender representation in the context of settler imaginings of the tropics.

For the opening event at FUMA (Ground Floor, Social Sciences North Building, Bedford Park) on Thursday 9 March, a Floortalk at 4pm will have Dr Garden in conversation with Therese Ritchie.

The exhibition launch from 5-7pm will be officially opened by Associate Professor Barbara Baird from the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Flinders University.

Some Like it Hot is presented by Artback NT with the assistance of the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
