Indigenous businesses in the spotlight

The inaugural Flinders University Indigenous Business Showcase, held on April 19 as part of the 2023 RAP Conference, provided a powerful tool for promoting the procurement of services from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.

Held on day two of the RAP Conference, the showcase provided space for 15 Indigenous-owned businesses to present their products and services to the University community and several of our key stakeholders.

Flinders’ Professor Simone Tur, Pro Vice Chancellor (Indigenous), and Mark Gregory, Vice President (Corporate Services), launched the showcase and provided insights into how the products and services of Indigenous Businesses can be procured, for both large corporations or small entities.

The featured Indigenous businesses ranged from providing cultural advisors, employment and recruitment experts, translation and printing services, through to small business owners producing their own health and beauty products.

The Indigenous Business Procurement Showcase provided a timely precursor to development of the Flinders University Procurement Strategy, which is scheduled to be launched soon.
