Workplace gender equality report

Flinders University has lodged an annual report on gender equality with the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), meeting its legislative requirements.

The WGEA Gender Equality Reporting program is a mandatory program for all non-public sector ‘relevant employers’ with more than 100 employees under the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (the act).

The annual reporting cycle gathers information and data from employers through a range of instruments including policies, strategies, actions on gender equality and data on workforce composition and salaries.  This in turn assists in the identification of any gender and equality issues across Australian workplaces and contributes to the Agency’s dataset on gender equality.

In March, the Workplace Gender Equality Amendment (Closing the Gender Pay Gap) Bill was passed in Federal Parliament.  As a result, the WGEA estimates that in 2024, 40% of the nation’s workforce will have access to key indicators on how their organisation is performing on gender equality.

Flinders recently submitted its mandatory 2023 annual report to WGEA, a copy of which and further information about Flinders’ commitment to gender equality can be accessed at this link.

WGEA is currently experiencing technical issues, resulting in some data provided by Flinders and other organisations being omitted from the WGEA generated reports. Published reports will be provided once updated reports are received from WGEA.
