Enjoy a sweet treat for NAIDOC Week

To recognise NAIDOC Week 2023, the team from Yungkurrinthi will next week be providing delicious Vili’s donuts in brilliant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colours, along with vegan cupcakes and socially conscious Yaru water.

NAIDOC Week is an annual event to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

In 2023, NAIDOC Week will be celebrated from Sunday 2 July until Sunday 9 July – and the Yungkurrinthi team will be giving away the free treats on the ground floor of the Student Hub on Tuesday 4 July from noon to 1pm.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is ‘For Our Elders’ and everyone in the Flinders community is invited to join communal activities, including painting your own masterpiece on a koala, boomerang, keyring, kangaroo, cockatoo or mini canvas, while also enjoying their sweet treats.

Everyone is welcome to join in, so please feel free to stop by and spend some time creating something wonderful, have a yarn with fellow staff and students and enjoy the chance to learn about First Nations art and culture.
