New chicks on campus

The Flinders University family has grown by three small bodies, with the resident Humanities Courtyard masked lapwings recently giving birth to a brood of chicks.

The three newcomers ignored the foul weather and were recently spotted joining mum and dad to explore campus in the rain.

Two of the three chicks were spotted on the grass in the Humanities Courtyard

Please be careful around this new family, as masked lapwings can be protective of their young, and have been known to screech and flap away anyone (or anything) that gets too close to their nest.
