Professor’s leadership recognised in Premier’s awards

Congratulations to Professor Simone Ulalka Tur, who was nominated as one of six finalists in the Premier’s NAIDOC Award yesterday.

Professor Simone Tur and South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas

Professor Tur is not only our current Pro-Vice Chancellor (Indigenous) and an alum; she is also a leader, educator, artist, writer and advocate whose contributions to Flinders and to the South Australian community are the embodiment of our University’s values and ethos.

Her nomination recognises her ongoing leadership of the Indigenous agenda, which is clearly evident at a national, institutional, community, and discipline level. She is also highly respected by the higher education sector in Australia for her contribution to Indigenous matters over a wider array of areas. She dedicates many hours of her time and her ferocious energy to leading the University in these matters, and her generosity and willingness to engage with her colleagues and the wider community makes this recognition very well deserved.
