Defence industry applauds Flinders

Flinders University is again a finalist in the annual Australian Defence Industry Awards for Academic Institution of the year, underlining this University’s strength in working closely with the defence industry to develop and introduce a range of new courses in response to future industry requirements and being a partner of a choice of Defence and industry for defence related research.

“We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award,” says Flinders University’s Defence Partnerships Director, Tony Kyriacou. “These are incredibly competitive awards and making the finals speaks to our research and education strengths in defence, and our strong and growing industry partnerships that are contributing to this important sector and supporting the national interest.”

This includes Flinders University’s Diploma of Digital Technologies and specialist programs in spectrum monitoring designed in collaboration with Defence.

“The quality of our programs is highlighted by the ongoing success of our students in securing internships, scholarships and employment in the defence industry,” adds Mr Kyriacou. “This has been supported due to the growing national and international reputation of Flinders University researchers who are working on ground-breaking defence research projects.”

Winners will be announced at the Australian Defence Industry Awards ceremony taking place in Canberra on Thursday 21 September.
