Marking in Canvas

Most people teaching in Canvas this semester have now had an opportunity to mark using SpeedGrader, the online marking interface. The mid-semester break may be a good time to take stock of how that went.

For those who feel they could do more, training and support are available. In particular:

Marking Assessments (length: 1hr) covers the fundamentals of marking assignments, quizzes and discussions using SpeedGrader, Canvas’ marking interface. In addition to SpeedGrader, this workshop shows how to use online rubrics, allow resubmissions, and grant extensions.

There are weekly workshops available until the end of October, and a self-paced workshop available at any time.

Planning and Building Assignments (length: 1hr) covers the potential uses of the assignment tool and how to set up assignments for different pedagogical scenarios.

There are fortnightly workshops available until the end of October, and a self-paced workshop available at any time.

The Canvas support centre gives contextual help on how to use Canvas. Using SpeedGrader? Open the support centre and see an article on how to add annotations. Marking a rubric? Find advice on adding free-form comments.

The support centre also has links to Canvas chat, phone and email support, available 24 hours a day.
