Mongolian experts come to learn at Flinders

Flinders’ expertise in progressive human rights law  has been shared with a delegation of high-ranked government experts from Mongolia.

Fifteen Mongolian fellows were recently welcomed to Flinders University recently as part of the prestigious Australian Awards Fellowship (AAF), with a focus on ‘Promoting Human Rights Based Approach to Development in Mongolia in the Digital Era’.

The Mongolian fellows include mid-level and senior executive representatives from the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia (NHRCM), Mongolian Parliament, National Police Agency, Ministry of Finance Mongolia, Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs Mongolia, a leading Mongolian NGO (National Center Against Violence) and National Committee for Human Rights Mongolia.

Working with Flinders experts, they’ll be delving into artificial intelligence, cyber and human rights, privacy and data protection, space law and more.

Hosted by the College of Business, Government and Law, the fellowship includes participants spending two weeks in Adelaide and one week interstate for training and visits, with a symposium to be hosted in Mongolia in January 2024 for participants to reflect on the application of skills and knowledge they learned and shared in Australia.

AAF program is a collaboration between Flinders University led by Dr Sanzhuan (Sandra) Guo (Senior Lecturer of Flinders Law and a human rights scholar and international lawyer), Tammy Joachin (Head of Executive Education of BGL) and the NHRCM, led by Dr Narantuya Ganbat, a Human Rights Commissioner.
