Look out for our new Plaza Sky Sign

New Bedford Park Plaza Sky Sign

The big Flinders University illuminated sign positioned in the Plaza at Bedford Park (above The Tav) is being updated to the feature new Flinders University logo. Work on the sign will begin on Monday 27 November and continue through the week. A pedestrian exclusion zone will be marked in the Plaza directly beneath the sign. Please take care to follow redirection signs.

Traffic Management on Sports Rd

Traffic management continues on Sports Rd around the Health and Medical Research Building. Temporary traffic lights are in place to ensure traffic flows are appropriately managed during peak times. Pedestrian access is available past the site but please be aware of changing conditions.

Humanities Building façade repairs

Repairs to the Humanities Building façade are underway and the blue scaffolding you can see from the Plaza will be in place until project closes on 17 December. Noisy works will be conducted out of business hours between Monday 20 November and Sunday 3 December. The Plaza ramp adjacent the building will remain closed. Please take note of exclusion zones and follow detour directions.

Central Library lift replacement

Work has commenced to replace the northern lift in the Central Library. This three-month project will provide a new, faster and more reliable lift, which is expected to be in operation by the end of February 2024. An alternative lift can be found at the southern end of the Central Library. These works will affect the loading bay at the rear of the building, so deliveries now need to be made via the Hub lift or the southern Central Library lift. The ground floor emergency exit leading to the loading bay will still be operational.

New Health Sciences Building entry door

The entry door to the Health Sciences building (on Level 3, across the walkway) will be replaced on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 November. As part of our plan to improve inclusive access around our campuses, the entry door to Health Sciences Building is being converted to an automated door. Alternative building entry will be via Level 1 – both the South and North entry, but these alternative entries are not accessible for people with mobility restrictions. For assistance with access, please talk to the contractors on site or phone Project Manager Genny Heartfield on 8201 5085.

Flinders Living footpath repair

Some footpaths around Flinders Living will be upgraded between now and the end of January 2024. Exclusion zones and pedestrian redirections will be in place, and a work compound will be set up in Car Park P22. If you use this area, be aware of increased vehicle and machinery traffic.
