New arrival in the Plaza
You may have noticed a new addition in the Plaza – our new logo, featured on the illuminated sign that takes pride of place on the eastern side of the Hub building. Check it out today!
Health Sciences Building entry door
A new automated door has been installed on Level 3 leading into the Health Sciences Building, but final work is being completed before it is put into operation. This door will be closed from 8am on Wednesday 6 December, but you can still enter the building by opening the door manually.
Biology Building electrical isolation
An electrical isolation will affect the Biology Building between 7am-7.30am on Friday 15 December. This work will test and inspect the building’s backup generator and main switchboard before commencing the next phase of the Biology transformer project. If you work in the Biology Building, please turn off any sensitive research equipment on the evening of Thursday 14 December. Usual activities can be resumed after 8am on Friday.
Traffic Management on Sports Road
Traffic management continues on Sports Road around the Health and Medical Research Building. Temporary traffic lights are in place to ensure traffic flows are appropriately managed during peak times. Pedestrian access is available past the site but please be aware of changing conditions.
Humanities Building façade repairs
Repairs to the Humanities Building façade are underway and the blue scaffold that can be seen from the Plaza will remain in place until this project concludes on 17 December. Most of the noisy work has been completed, but the Plaza ramp adjacent the building will remain closed until the project ends. Please take note of exclusion zones and follow detour directions.
Central Library lift replacement
Work has commenced to replace the northern lift in the Central Library. This is a 3-month project and a new, faster and more reliable lift is expected to be in operation by the end of February 2024. An alternative lift can be found at the southern end of the Central Library. These works will also affect the loading bay at the rear of the building. Deliveries now need to be made via the Hub lift or the southern Central Library lift. The ground floor emergency exit to the loading bay is still operational.
Engineering Building lift replacement
The Engineering Building lift replacement is progressing well and should towards be ready for use by the end of January 2024. There is no lift access to Level 4 during this time. Mobility access to Level 3 is via car park P15, and to Level 2 through the IST Building and walkway. Please contact Security on 8201 2880 if you need assistance with access.
Flinders Living footpaths
Some footpaths around Flinders Living will be upgraded between now and the end of January 2024. Exclusion zones and pedestrian redirections will be in place, and a work compound will be set up in car park P22. If you use this area, be aware of increased vehicle and machinery traffic.
