Sustaining our environmental leadership

Flinders University’s ongoing commitment to sustainability is attracting global acknowledgement, with the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Sustainability Rankings promoting us to seventh in Australia in the Environment Impact category and fifth in Australia in the Environmental Sustainability sub-category. Flinders received an overall ranking of 112 in the world.

After evaluating 1404 universities around the world for their capacity to address environmental, social and governance challenges, the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024  placed Flinders amongst the best of the ranked institutions.

With a campus powered by 100% renewable energy, our fleet of electric vehicles and this year’s introduction of new bi-directional EV charging stations at our Bedford Park campus, it’s little wonder that Flinders has been ranked amongst the best in the world through playing our part to provide a safe and sustainable environment. The QS Sustainability Rankings announcement comes amid development of our Flinders Sustainability Strategy 2030, for which staff and students contributed their say during a recent feedback period. The strategy team is hard at work analysing the feedback and ideas received, and will formalise a strategy ready for implementation from March next year.

Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback on Flinders’ next Sustainablity Strategy, and work done each day as we progress towards a low-emissions future.
