Flinders’ scientists on the Hottest 100

Congratulations to Flinders researcher Professor John Long and alumni Terence Tao who have been named by ABC Radio’s Robyn Williams as one of the ‘Hottest 100’ Australian Scientists. Professor Colin Raston was named an honorary member of the list.

Professor Long is a world expert in fish palaeontology, who has spent decades studying a rich area of fossils in WA, while Professor Raston studies chemistry and nanotechnology and won an Ig Nobel prize for his recipe to un-boil an egg. Terence Tao won the 2006 Fields Medal in maths for his work on harmonic analysis and number theory, and remains one of the youngest students ever to enrol at Flinders, graduating with a masters degree at the age of 16.

The Science Show’s Top 100 Australian Scientists aims to stimulate discussion and raise awareness. Read the full list here.
