Student-led initiative helps to save lives

A new initiative from two outstanding Flinders students is helping to save lives as Red Cross Lifeblood continues its callout for blood donors around Australia.

Nursing and Health Sciences student Kaitlyn and Bachelor of Paramedicine student Nicola have organised a student-led blood drive, which is open to the entire Flinders community from Wednesday 13 March to Saturday 13 April.

To thank the Flinders community, Red Cross is offering free return-transport for groups of four from Flinders’ Sturt campus (carpark 13) to the donor centre located at Marion.

If you’ve always wanted to donate blood, but haven’t found the right time, this is the perfect opportunity.

You can check your eligibility to donate blood here.

Once you’re eligible, create an account through Lifeblood Australia and join the Sturt Campus Students team. Then send sturtblooddrive@gmail.com an email to confirmation your registration, and the team will help to organise your transport.

Encourage your friends and colleagues to get involved and make a difference in the lives of people who may need blood.

For more information about this great initiative, contact Kaitlyn and Nicola at sturtblooddrive@gmail.com
