Boosting awareness of Campus Safety and Respect

The Respect.Now.Always (RNA) working group from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences held its third event in the Sturt campus courtyard on Friday 5 April to raise awareness about sexual assault and harassment, healthy sex culture, consent, bystander actions and respectful relationships.

The Safety and Respect on Campus Event was organised by Dr Rowaida Sleem and Dr Hila Dafny as RNA co-chairs at the CNHS, along with their working group members Dr Mallika Prem Senthil, Paige Lynch, and Kiara Roscio.

The working group members engaged with students and increased their awareness on sexual violence and safety on campus through the contribution and collaboration with FUSA, Be A Better Human, Student Equal Opportunity, OASIS, Flinders Health, Counselling and Disability, Flinders International Student Services, Flinders Sports Clubs and SHINE SA.

The event also promoted Flinders University’s new consent and respectful relationships training module, which all staff and students can now complete by clicking on the FLO link (Canvas).

This new module for consent and respectful relationships training is one of the practical steps and commitments Flinders University is taking to ensure that safety, respect and responsibility are foundations of the University culture.
