Electrical Maintenance at Bedford Park

To meet mandatory compliance obligations and keep everyone safe, the essential electrical safety maintenance team will be on north ridge during April, working in the following buildings:

  • Yungkurrinthi Student Engagement Centre.
  • Health Counselling & Disability.
  • Sports Centre.
  • Health Sciences.
  • Health Sciences Lecture Theatre Complex.

What does it involve?

RCD (Safety Switch) Testing will be conducted between midnight and 8am, involving a short power outage. Test & Tag of electrical appliance will be conducted both after hours and during business hours. It requires your appliances to be available and powered down for a few minutes.

What do you need to do?

Save your work before you leave each day. If you keep appliances in secure cupboards/rooms, please contact Luke Lilburn to arrange a time to have them tested. If you manage power sensitive or critical equipment and require specific timing arrangements to minimise impact, please contact Luke Lilburn.

Registry building refurbishments

The Professional Services Building and Registry Building Staff Workspaces project has started, with refurbishment of room 117 on level 1 of the Registry building (the former Central Archives room). Demolition work included removal of old carpet, desks, compactus, blinds and skirting boards. As works continue over the next three weeks, passers-by will notice fresh paint being applied, a different room layout and installation of new carpet, workstations and storage.

CSE buildings and car park 7 improvements

Works are progressing well on the new ground floor undergraduate science lab and the roof renewal/stormwater upgrade in and around the Physical Sciences building and car park 7. If you work in CSE buildings, check out the updates on the CSE Central SharePoint page. Visitors to the area should note the compound and barriers may change during the week, so follow directions on signs and allow extra time to take detours.

Car park 14 telco works

For the rest of this week, a telecommunications contractor will be in car park 14 to upgrade their equipment. There will be no impact to university connectivity. Approximately 12 parking bays will be blocked off and traffic management will be in place to maintain vehicle flow. Please follow redirections and adhere to speed restrictions.
