Artworks by Flinders University graduate and Arabana and Kokatha artist Mali Isabel have been installed on the escalators and stairs at the entrance of Flinders City Campus.
The artwork installed on the stairs is titled On Kaurna Land and the escalator artwork is titled Deep in the Valley.
Since graduating from Flinders in 2020, Mali’s career has blossomed as an artist creating contemporary dot paintings that use all colours of the rainbow to spread messages of positivity and equality. Through combining her passions for education and painting, Mali hopes to promote a greater understanding of culture and equity with her rainbow artworks.
Mali was highly commended in the 2021 Our Mob Trevor Nickolls Art Prize and was the Adelaide Fringe Festival’s poster artist for 2022 – the first Aboriginal poster artist for the Adelaide Fringe in its 62-year history.
