Information and Digital Services (IDS) at Flinders University recently hosted the second Education Technology World Café event, bringing together partners from across the education community.
Flinders is actively working on projects to enhance teaching and learning and our focus during the session looked at the following key themes:
• Experiences for all, including an accessibility demonstration of the student handbook to highlight the importance of customer experience considerations.
• Student Portal upgrade, with the results of a recent student survey shared that challenge assumptions around student experience.
• Empowering student growth. A student pipeline dashboard was showcased, followed by discussion around enhancements to how we engage with and attract people from school students thinking about tertiary study, through to those looking to study a Higher Degree by Research.
• Supporting Simpler Study, with guests participating in a hands-on exploration of the current curriculum choices, to show how this could look different by enabling a simpler path to choose how to study.
Colleagues from various university departments joined project teams, contributing to helping shape the future of education at Flinders.
The event used the World Café format, fostering dialogue among the large group and participants engaged in ‘pressure testing’ assumptions and lively conversations. You can find out more about the World Café concept by clicking here.
Due to the event’s success, the IDS team plans to host another World Café on August 1. If you’re interested in attending, please contact Ewa Seidel, Associate Director of IDS Research & Education Engagement & Success: ewa.seidel@flinders.edu.au.
