Join Flinders’ Elders on Campus Dr Uncle Lewis Yarlupurka O’Brien and Dr Uncle Richie Balang/Japaljarri Fejo for this year’s Padninthiyangga Ngadluku Purkgku – Walking with Our Elders on Wednesday 14 August. Held in the Noel Stockdale Room in the Central Library, Bedford Park, the ‘in conversation’ event will be followed by delicious bush tucker infused refreshments.
Uncle Lewis and Uncle Richie will share their wisdom and insights post the national referendum for a Voice to Parliament, while focusing on their vision of how First Nations people can be at the heart of the higher education system, following the Australian Universities Accord report. In conversation with Professor Simone Ulalka Tur, Yankunyjatjara woman, respected performance artist and Flinders Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous), the Elders’ will reflect on their vision for community and share how Indigenous philosophies and Knowledges can ground future thinking in higher education.
Informed by Kaurna and Larrakia worldviews, this forum will provide the opportunity to reflect with Uncle Lewis and Uncle Richie on how two-way Indigenous and western education can shape the higher education sector into the future.
Please join us for the insightful event by registering to attend in-person via IEnrol or livestreamed on this link.
