Digital technology policies and procedures

Information and Digital Services has reviewed the suite of policies and procedures that govern the University’s digital environment. The review has resulted in updates to existing policies and procedures, and the creation of a new policy and related procedures that are now available in the Flinders Policy Library.

A summary of the changes to the suite of digital technology policies and procedures is outlined in the following table:

Digital Technologies Policy Digital Environment Policy Defines the digital environment for Flinders and provides an overarching framework for how it is governed, managed and protected.
Information Security Policy Digital Security Policy Broadening of the scope from information security to digital security.
Acceptable Use of Technology Procedures Acceptable Use of Digital Assets Policy Elevated from procedures to a policy and broadened the scope to all digital assets.
Email and Electronic Data Access Procedures No title change. General review and update.
Information Classification and Handling Procedures No title change. General review and update.
New Digital Assets Policy New policy for effective and efficient management of university-owned and/or managed digital assets.
New Digital Hardware Asset Management Procedures New procedures for managing hardware assets.
New Digital Software Asset Management Procedures New procedures for managing software assets.

 

All staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new suite of policies and procedures, in particular their responsibilities to connect, interact and utilise digital assets and services for the betterment of the community and the development of teaching, learning and research purposes, as well as to inter-operate in an acceptable, appropriate and permitted manner as outlined in the Acceptable Use of Digital Assets Policy.
