The Flinders Uni Active Challenge is back!

It’s that time of year again – the Flinders University Active Challenge is back for 2024! Starting on Monday 16 September, this year’s challenge will see participants ‘run’ from Port Douglas in Queensland to Hobart in Tasmania. Each team members’ steps contribute to the virtual walking journey to reach the Tournament goal.

We’re encouraging teams of up to 10 people to compete in the 10,000 Step tournament. If you have a large team consider multiple teams and some create some healthy competition.

To count your steps and record other physical activities during the challenge, you can:

  • Sync your steps by connecting your Fitbit, Google Fit, Apple Health app or Garmin activity tracking account.
  • Use a free app available for smart phones.
  • Request a free pedometer from the Challenge Coordinator. There are a limited number available – so it’s first in, first served!
  • Record other moderate or vigorous intensity activities in the Step Log. See Recording Other Activities | 10,000 Steps (10000steps.org.au)

Teams need to be set up before the start date so they can start the challenge on Monday 16 September – please register your involvement at 10,000 Steps with your individual university email address. If you participated last year, you do not need to register again. Teams from last year can also be reinstated. Please notify the Challenge Coordinator once you have registered.

You’ll require a captain and a team name then you can start assembling your team. A Team Invite Code can be provided to streamline the process. Using this team-specific code, your team members can add themselves to your team once they are registered.

If you would like to participate but don’t have a team, the Challenge Coordinator can allocate you into one.

For more information, please contact Challenge Coordinator Karen Hayden by email karen.hayden@flinders.edu.au or phone 8201 3117.
