Associate Professor Voula Gaganis has received the Award for Teaching Excellence (Health) in the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT), hosted by Universities Australia. Associate Professor Gaganis was awarded for her transformative work in medical science education at Flinders University by replacing didactic pedagogy with active learning and collaborating with industry to co-create degrees that address dynamic workforce needs.
He’s a Young Achiever

Huge congratulations to Dr Bryce Brickley on becoming a Finalist for the NT Government Excellence in Youth Leadership Award, part of the 2025 Northern Territory Young Achiever Awards via Awards Australia. Dr Brickley is a Flinders University researcher based in Darwin. His research has contributed to significant health benefits for men, including higher levels of physical activity, reduced risk of heart disease, and improved social and emotional wellbeing.

The analytical commentary examines the impact of AI on the global OER movement, and analyses key recommendations from the Dubai Declaration on OER, discussing how AI transforms learning resource creation and distribution while raising critical questions about attribution, licensing, and quality assurance. It also explores how the Declaration guides the OER community in leveraging emerging technologies while advancing its core mission of making quality educational resources freely accessible to all.
