New works around campus include temporary lane closures on Sports Road, the removal of planter boxes from the Tav balcony and a new campus bus trial. Adelaide Metro has also advised of the scheduled temporary closure of the Seaford and Flinders train line.
Sports Road – temporary lane closure – updated days
From 7am on Wednesday 16 to 4pm on Thursday 17 April, SALHN are temporarily closing one lane of Sports Road (adjacent to HMRB) for works on the Margaret Tobin Centre. If you’re travelling to or from HMRB, car park 12 or Flinders Station, note that vehicle speed will be reduced to 25km/h via the single lane. Pedestrian access will also be maintained. Traffic management will be in place, so please follow directions on signs and from traffic managers onsite and take additional care or avoid the area where possible.
Removal of planter boxes – southern balcony of Student Hub
From Thursday 17 April to Saturday 17 May, a scaffold and works exclusion zone will be in place below the Tavern balcony, outside of the Student Hub.
This is to allow builders access to the southwestern balcony of the Tavern.
From Tuesday 22 April to Thursday 24 April, noisy works are expected to remove the concrete planter boxes. Be mindful if you’re at the Tavern or Wildernest – especially if seated on the balconies. At times, a truck will enter the area to remove debris from the site. Access to the Student Hub, Tavern and Wildernest will be maintained. Please stay outside of the works zone and follow directions from construction staff.
Campus bus – train connection trial
If you use the Station Express campus bus to connect to the Flinders line train to get home after work, we are trialling the addition of a new stop. Until the end of the semester break, between 5pm and 5:30pm, each Tonsley Link and Campus Connector bus service will stop next to the HMRB on University Drive (Adelaide Metro stop 26B).
This will provide additional transport from the Bedford Park campus to HMRB for a quick walk down to the station, and ease congestion at the Sports Road/University Drive intersection.
Station Express bus services will run to Station Plaza as usual.
Temporary train line closures
Over Easter, Adelaide Metro are temporarily closing the Seaford and Flinders rail lines for scheduled upgrade works. Works commence at 8:30pm on Thursday 17 April with services resuming at 6am on Tuesday 21 April.
Trains will NOT run on these lines during works, however buses will supplement the routes. Visit Adelaide Metro’s service disruptions web page for more information.
