
Weekend power outages at Bedford Park and City Campus and ongoing Central Library works.
Be prepared for planned power outages at Bedford Park
This weekend, maintenance works are ongoing on our Bedford Park high voltage (HV) electrical systems.
On 12-13 July, power outages range in length and all-day lift outages will occur in the following buildings/spaces:
- Central Library
- Education
- Flinders Child Care Centre
- Flinders Living (all buildings and units)
- Station Plaza
- HMRB
- Health Sciences
- Health Sciences Lecture Theatre Complex
- Humanities
- Law and Commerce
- Maritime Compound (adjacent Flinders Living)
- Matthew Flinders Theatre / Drama,
- Oasis
- Pendopo
- Professional Services
- Registry
- Social Sciences North
- Social Sciences South
- Sports Centre
- Sports Pavillion
- Student Centre
- Student Hub / Union
- Yunkurrinthi Trruku
If you are working or studying this weekend, be aware of the outage times and remember to save your work regularly. If possible, consider working from an alternative location.
The Student Hub, Flinders Living buildings and units and Central Library will remain open. For safety reasons, other buildings will be closed during outages and access will be restricted. Lifts (other than in HMRB) will be unavailable during maintenance works. Please contact Security on 8201 2880 if you require the access cab to help move around campus.

City Campus all level power outage on 13 July
The City Campus will be closed on Sunday 13 July 2025 for a planned power outage impacting all levels. The shutdown will involve critical electrical upgrades to non-essential power.
Works outside Registry and PSB for Central Library refurbishment
Refurbishment works on level 0 of the library are progressing well, with the following works scheduled on Friday 11 July:
- The external stairs on the northern side of the Central Library building (opposite Grind & Press) will be closed
- A scaffold will be installed over the external stairs
- A works exclusion zone will be established for a truck and lay down area at the University entry (opposite the Registry building)
- Traffic management will be in place while trucks enter and exit the truck lay down area
- The truck and lay down area and works exclusion zone around it will be removed.
Pedestrian access from Registry Road will be retained at all times.
From Monday, 14 July to Friday 8 August,
- Path and external steps on the northern side of the library will be closed with a scaffold over the steps
- Exclusion zone around the scaffold will be in place.
Please stay out of all works zones and follow signage for redirections until works conclude in late September.
