As part of the University’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy and Travel Impact campaign, our travel system Nutrip now presents the estimated carbon emissions and offset costs* for each business trip.
We are committed to climate action, and with air travel being our largest emissions source after purchased goods and services, this new feature raises awareness about carbon accountability and should stimulate more mindful travel decisions.
While there won’t be any financial contributions toward offsetting carbon in 2025, educating staff about carbon emissions and offsets is an important first step towards embedding carbon accountability into travel planning. Future phases may involve College and Portfolio level financial contributions equivalent to offsetting emissions from business travel. Funds will be directed into schemes that align with our institutional values.
