Social Sciences North courtyard footpath and stair upgrades
Work starts this week to repair and improve safety on the retaining wall and external brick stairs on both the southern and northern sides of the Social Science North courtyard. There will be some noise and access impacts with works expected to continue until approximately 31 October. Please follow all diversions as directed on signs.
Central Library refurbishment update
On Saturday 20 September, a new concrete path will be installed on the northern side of the Central Library building. A works exclusion zone and truck lay down area will be established adjacent to Registry Road (opposite the Registry building.)
There will be disruptions in these areas during these times, including noise/restrictions to pedestrian access/vibration.
Please follow directions on signage and from traffic managers while trucks enter and exit the area. Please do not enter the works exclusion zone.
Reminder – temporary access changes in car parks 5, 6 and 12
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September, we will be closing car park 12 in its entirety and the upper levels of car parks 5 and 6, so line marking of parking bays can occur.
So, if you plan to work or study nearby, or use the car parks as a park ‘n’ ride, please allow extra time this weekend to park in an alternate car park or commute a different way. Please follow directions on signage in the area. Works will be completed by Monday.
Ceiling renewal works progress
As works to repair or replace suspended ceilings wrap up in the Biological Sciences building, works progress to the Humanities building. From Monday 22 September to Monday 6 October, works will be underway in Humanities on level 1 in rooms 101, 104/105 and 122. Ceiling works will follow on level 2 in room 236. There is no access into rooms during works. Please follow all directions on signage.
Reminder – repair works in Sir Eric Neal building
From Monday 22 to Friday 26 September, toilets on level 3 of the Sir Eric Neal (Engineering) building will be inaccessible while repair works are undertaken. Other facilities in the building will not be affected.
Please note, there may be some noisy works and the area will be cordoned off. Please follow any directions on signage in the area.
Testing (RCD) safety switches
Our annual Residual Current Device (RCD or safety switch) testing program is progressing. Testing requires a short power outage, and for this reason will be conducted from 5.00am to 8:00am to minimise disruption, unless otherwise advised, below.
If you work or study in these buildings, please ensure you power down all devices and save your work before you leave each day.
