Safety reminder about staying out of building zones, reopening of cycling and pedestrian lanes on University Drive, City Campus works update and the April electrical maintenance/compliance programs.

Safety reminder

Please do not move bollards or fencing and enter builders’ work zones. For example, the space between the Physical Sciences building, car park 8 and the Biology Discovery Centre remains a live construction site with access for staff and students not permitted.

Please follow directions on signage and from building contractors at all times.

University Drive access reopens

SA Health Margaret Tobin Centre works on the corner of University Drive and Sports Rd (adjacent to the Health and Medical Research Building) are nearing completion, so over the coming weeks you can look forward to builders dismantling their site compound on University Drive and the:

  • Reopening of the northbound cycling lane
  • Restoration of the footpath on the western side of the road
  • Restoration of the speed limit on University Drive and Sports Rd to 50km per hour.

Please follow directions from any traffic management officials and signage while the builder’s compound is removed.

Electrical maintenance

The April schedule of test and tagging of electrical appliances, and electrical safety switch (residual current devices or RCDs) testing has begun in the following buildings:

  • Sturt precinct (all buildings)
  • Alan Mitchell Sports Centre
  • Sports Pavillion.

For test and tag: for electrical compliance, technicians will test equipment such as laptop chargers, monitors and desk equipment, so if you have appliances in a secure cupboard or room, please arrange a time to have them tested. Please ensure devices are powered down and save your work before you leave each day.

RCD compliance testing requires a short power outage, and to minimise disruption will therefore be conducted out of usual hours (between 6am and 9am) unless otherwise advised.

Remember to save your work before you leave each day.

City Campus level 6 upgrade

Works on level 6 of the City Campus are ongoing with restrictions on the southern side of the building. This work will expand teaching capacity with two clinical labs and hi-fidelity rooms, a multipurpose lab and home simulation lab.

While unavailable to book now, the two recording booths will be back online from Monday 1 June.
