IDS are upgrading the technology that underpins our Cisco telephones, to better serve our Flinders community.

The new technology will provide more flexibility and support for collaboration between remote and onsite teams. It will also provide opportunities for future innovations, such as advances features and capabilities, and improve our security and support options.

The next upgrade will be:

When: 5pm Friday, 8 May to 12pm noon Monday, 11 May 2026.

Where: City Campus, HMRB, Bedford Park campus buildings and Flinders’ metropolitan Adelaide sites.

How will this impact you?

IDS will be performing the majority of the telephony upgrades outside of business hours to minimise any disruption to your work, research, and teaching activities. There will be intermittent Cisco phone outages during this time. Mobile phones will not be affected.

Cisco desk phones will be automatically logged out, and users will be required to log back in using your FAN ID as the username, and 12345 as the pin number when you next return to work. You can then change your pin number after logging in.

Tip: If you experience any issues reconnecting your phone, we suggest first unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging back in to re-set it.

If you use the computer-based phone application ‘Cisco Webex’, this will also require you to log out and log back in with your Flinders credentials to ensure a successful connection.

Your existing voicemails cannot be migrated to the upgraded technology. If you have any existing voicemails you need to access or keep, you will need to do this via the audio attachment you received in an email at the time (noting that these emails have been in place since 2022). We suggest saving a copy of the audio file if necessary, so that you can find it easily in future.

There may also be a short delay in IDS updating any telephone details (such as changing your name) due to the upgrade.
