Electrical maintenance

The ongoing program of compliance testing – testing and tagging of electrical appliances, and electrical safety switch (residual current devices or RCD) testing will be conducted in the following buildings from Monday 1 to Tuesday 30 June:

Test and tag

Safety switch/RCD testing

  • South Lecture Theatres
  • Physical Sciences
  • HMRB
  • Biological Sciences
  • South Lecture Theatres

Technicians will test equipment such as laptop chargers, monitors and desk equipment, so if you have appliances in a secure cupboard or room, please arrange a time to have them tested.
Before you leave each day, please ensure devices are powered down and save your work.

This testing requires a short power outage. Therefore, to minimise disruption testing is conducted out of usual hours (between 6am and 9am) unless otherwise advised. Remember to save your work before you leave each day.

Window cleaning – including using a drone

Between Monday 1 to Tuesday 8 June, we are continuing to clean windows on our campus buildings. So long as weather conditions remain favourable, windows on the following buildings will be cleaned:

  • Physical Sciences
  • Social Sciences North
  • Social Sciences South.

If you’re working in or visiting these buildings, please keep the windows closed.
Please stay out of the work exclusion zones which will be set up below the windows being cleaned and follow directions on signage and from staff.

Reminder – car park 1 lighting upgrade

Between 6:30am and 5pm this Friday (5 June), we will be starting investigative works to improve lighting in car park 1.

Small sections of parking bays on the middle and lower levels will be cordoned off and unavailable during works. The upper level will not be impacted.

Please slow down and take additional care when moving through the car park, especially when workers are on-site. For safety reasons, please do not remove any car park bollards and please do not enter work areas.

Reminder – drive with caution in Sturt car park 14

This Wednesday and Thursday (3 and 4 June), the College of Medicine and Public Health is conducting its annual ‘mass casualty motor vehicle field incident’ practicals with medical students inside and in front of the paramedic ambulance shed at Sturt.

To allow space for the pracs, the adjacent loading bay will be unavailable. If you’re parking in car park 14, please drive slowly and exercise caution when the pracs are underway as additional students and staff will be in the car park. Please stay out of the cordoned off area.
