Thank you, and farewell, Professor Rosalie Grivell

Flinders MD Director, Professor Rosalie Grivell, will be embarking on new adventures from August this year. A graduate of the Flinders Medical Program (BMBS’98), Rosalie returned to Flinders in 2016, making notable contributions to research, educational endeavours and patient care as a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.

As the Discipline Lead of Women’s and Children’s health, Rosalie transformed the women’s health medical student teaching program by developing an interprofessional education approach with midwifery academic colleagues, and supporting and elevating women’s health research within SALHN.

Rosalie led the Flinders MD as course director from March 2020, and successfully navigated the changes and challenges posed by Covid-19. Highlights included maintaining clinical placements for third and fourth year students during the Covid-19 pandemic, re-establishing sound governance in the medical course, and working with and developing an extremely strong team of academic and professional staff who are responsible for day to day and strategic course leadership.

“One of the absolute joys of my time as course director has been the renewed engagement with the student leadership and the student body more broadly. It’s been such a privilege to work with them in managing our collective challenges over the past 2 years and I am proud to have been able to support their journeys”.

Rosalie established a strong partnership with the student body, refined the MD governance and enhanced quality assurance around assessment and student satisfaction with the medical course. This is testament to Rosalie’s integrity and professionalism, to focus on the urgent matters and to put students at the centre of communications and decision making.

On behalf of the entire Flinders MD community, we say thank you Rosalie and good luck!
