Flinders NT has another addition to the Rural Health Multi-disciplinary Training support team. Ms Leigh Moore joins the team as Nursing and Allied Health Lecturer and is excited about developing placement opportunities in the Northern Territory.
Leigh has worked as a pharmacist in Katherine, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Darwin and as a tutor, examiner and Unit coordinator for the Charles Darwin University’s Bachelor of Pharmacy course. For the last six years Leigh has worked with the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP) as a Problem Based Learning tutor for both first and second year students.
The Top End placement team has recently followed their Centre for Remote Health colleagues with the introduction of Student Networking and Inter-Professional Sessions (SNIPS) in Darwin. These sessions provide a mix of education and networking with the opportunity to meet students from other disciplines and universities. Coordinators in both Katherine and Nhulunbuy are looking at the possibility of local sessions in each of those sites as well.
Staff are also working to increase awareness of the services of Flinders NT by meetings with stakeholders, development of marketing materials and building content for the website. The professional development workshops run by Narelle Campbell and Helen Wozniak continue to be well attended and offer a great opportunity for preceptors to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence required to provide quality supervision to students.
