Welcome to Nursing Lecturer Erica Petrovic

The Centre for Remote Health (CRH) as part of Flinders NT welcomes Remote Area Nurse and Diabetes Educator, Erica Petrovic in the role of Nursing Lecturer.

As an undergraduate nurse, Erica was inspired by the stories of remote NT shared by one of her clinical teachers Sarah Brown, CEO at Purple House in Alice Springs. This led her to apply for an undergraduate community nursing placement at an Aboriginal Medical Service in Broken Hill and these experiences convinced her that rural and remote nursing was her ultimate goal.

In 2006, after gaining 5 years broad based nursing experience in a busy east coast Emergency Department, Erica commenced her Remote Area Nursing career pathway with Flinders University.

Whilst working in Jabiru in the Northern Territory she completed both a Graduate Diploma in Remote Health Practice through CRH and a Graduate Diploma in Nursing – Diabetes Education and Management with Flinders University. She is currently enrolled in a Flinders University Master of Nursing – Research.

Erica is passionate about working collaboratively with remote communities to achieve positive health outcomes. She is looking forward to supporting clinical placements throughout the NT and lecturing in the Remote Health Practice Program at CRH.

Erica and her family love the desert country and enjoy exploring the walking trails around Central Australia in their leisure time.
