Congratulations to Dr Sanjay Joseph who was named the National Junior Doctor of the Year at the National Confederation of Postgraduate Medical Councils Awards in Canberra on 31 October.
Dr Joseph, a postgraduate of the Flinders Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP) and Resident Medical Officer at Royal Darwin Hospital, was commended for his passion and dedication to rural and remote medicine, the continuous improvement of prevocational medical education and training in the NT and commitment to promoting junior doctor health and wellbeing to executive staff, junior doctors and medical students alike across Top End Health Service .
Sanjay is the Darwin Coordinator for Healthy Start, a national preventative health education project founded by medical students many of whom have stayed on with the program since graduating. It runs programs in different states working with newly arrived refugees in order to increase their health literacy.
