Utilise your Librarians

Many of you would already be aware of the Library’s services and we are certainly familiar with the excellent work being produced by Flinders HDRs! As a library we are always changing, so we are delighted by the opportunity to use this newsletter to share our news, but even more interested to hear from you on how we can support you in your research.

Research support plan

At the end of 2020 the Library completed a draft Research support plan 2021-2022. We are taking this document to the University’s Deans, College Research Committees and our important partners such as the Office of Graduate Research.

The Library’s Research Support plan is underpinned by the strategic intent of the 2025 Agenda and informed by the University Research Plan 2020-2022.  As the research landscape has changed, so too has scholarly communications. Academic libraries are expanding to develop new services related to research including impact and metrics, strategic publishing and open access advisory, and research data management. In framing a support plan to support these goals, the Library will focus on both these new areas of need as well as its long-standing areas of strength, being: Training and Advisory; Access and Discovery; Information Management Support and Facilities and Spaces.

If any of these areas are of immediate research interest to you, your starting point is the College and Research Services Team. We cover a wide variety of disciplines and subject areas and offer support to Flinders researchers at every level via workshops, one on one support and online resources. Our strengths are in literature and systematic review searching, primary source searching, research data management advisory, research discovery, bibliometrics and publications support. Thanks for reading and we are looking forward to showcasing more of the Library in the coming year.
