WebEx Meetings migrated to the Cloud

Intended Audience: IDS Staff

IDS colleagues may be interested to know that the Unified Communications team in Digital Platforms and Operations (DPO) has recently upgraded and migrated its on-premise version of WebEx Meetings to the Cloud. As a result, new features are available:

  • Collaborate with your peers, colleagues or third parties, anywhere, anytime, from any device with screen sharing capabilities
  • High definition video and audio connectivity
  • Personal Room capabilities
  • Up to 2,000 participants per meeting

The existing on-premise version is still operational, but if you would like to take advantage of the new cloud version and its new features, all you need to do is either:

  • Create a meeting request like you normally do in Outlook, and in the “Location” field just type @webex (all lowercase) and the system will take care of the rest for you, or
  • Go to http://flinders.webex.com

This upgrade is so recent, that it hasn’t been released across the University as yet, but will be in the near future. We are in the process of creating the support and self-help documentation at present, and once ready will ‘launch’ the new cloud-based WebEx platform for staff to take advantage of.
